Today is world environment day 5th June … During this lockdown nature definitely has come to live.
We can hear the birds chirp, the insects seem to be louder and more importantly the air has definitely become clearer .
Lets pause, take a deep breath ….. moments like theses are rare in Mumbai .
While we have benefitted health wise from the strict lockdown enforced in India . That means no junk food, lots of home cooked meals, a slow paced lifestyle for some lucky ones who didn’t get too caught up in online meetings.
Suddenly we had a lot of me time something most Mumbaikars live without , My children got board … another new phenomena no running for classes no hustle , no bustle …. and more importantly almost everyone has now become a master chef!
At home we grew in almost every little place that allowed us to sprout some micro greens, It felt better to grow a few items than stepping out to get them. In fact we are very happy on continuing this habit of growing micro greens for everyday of the week. We have tried our hand at growing jeera/cumin, moong, mustard, channa/grams, rajma/kidney beans , green peas , ginger ,garlic , chillies and whatever else we had in our kitchen.
Now the whole family has grown green fingers and toes.
I would really like to encourage you to write down on Face book https://www.facebook.com/StartUpcyclingNow/ or insta- SUNStartupcyclingnow one green habit you are going to continue post this lockdown . Do tag us .This will urge you to continue this green idea which is not only a good habit but it will definitely improve your immune system.
Regarding immunity I’m happy to share with you something very interesting. Most of my fellow gardeners would agree that a walk in the garden always gets your spirit up it even keeps a cold away… I recently learnt who was behind this .. Its pythoncide – a chemical given out by trees to keep away germs and sickness. So when you walk around plants you inhale this immunity building energy .
AS get ready to step outside eat healthy and take due precaution.
The star pic of todays blog is Mr Thomas Lobo who grew moong .
